I am.. Empowered| Week 1: Speak
Once upon a time, when kings or nobles wanted to communicate with each other they did not have the luxury of smartphones or the internet. They had to either show up in person or send a representative with a message under a banner of their authority to speak on behalf of the noble person. Even written letters required an envoy to carry the letter on behalf of the king.
These messengers or envoys had the protection of the banner of the kingdom they represented, meaning, that if they were communicating with an enemy nation or traveling through a neutral nation, they had rights and protections placed on them by the nation or king that sent them. If they were only there to deliver a message they were to be treated with respect, just as if they were the King or Noble sending the message was there in person. For the duration of their mission, they were EMPOWERED by their King to speak on behalf of their king.
Just like these envoys, we are EMPOWERED by our Lord and King Jesus to speak on His behalf. We are to speak for Him regarding those being treated unjustly, we are to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, we are to speak the very words that Jesus would speak. Words of Hope, Healing, Blessing, Mercy and Joy, but also words of Warning, Correction and Empowerment.
Sometimes these words will need to be spoken by us amongst our friends. Sometimes we’ll need to speak against what seems to be the correct course chosen by most people and sometimes we’ll have to speak words of correction before people who are more powerful than us. This can be a very frightening thing to asked of us, But God who is always with us will empower our words to say what we need to say and we have the guarantee of His protection because we are His envoys on earth.
So, do not be afraid to speak! God has given you a voice and a message all you must do is to trust in the Empowering presence of God that has placed you in that situation as His envoy. You are Empowered to speak the words of Jesus.

Is there a message God’s given you that you haven’t delivered yet?
Think about your social circles. Is there someone that God may want you to speak for?
What would change if you more fully accepted and internalized that you are Empowered to speak for God?
Take a few moments to reflect and thank God for empowering your to speak for others.
