I am... Worth It (week 1)
Have you ever had a bad day? It feels like the whole world just landed on you. You may be interested to know that God also had a really bad day and knows exactly what you’ve gone through. The saddest day in all of history was the day humanity sinned against God. It was God’s worst day. We forget sometimes, that up to that point everything He created was good and perfect, and now He had to dispense a judgement on the one creation He loved most. It hurt Him to do it, but He loved us too much not to.
Even as He was delivering a verdict, He was also making plans to pay the penalty. His plan involved a Human. One sinless, innocent human, that would experience all stages of human life and never sin. Who would willingly and freely pay the penalty with their life and be raised to life by God again.
All knowing God knew that because humanity was so infected by sin that on one would be worthy. So He made a plan. A plan that involved Himself laying down His power and status as God and entering this world as the most vulnerable version of humanity: a baby.
This holiday season as you celebrate the birth of this Baby, remember that He represents salvation, but also the fact that God loves us so much that we were worth God’s plan.
Read and underline the verses on below in your Bible. Write any verses that jump out at you on some paper or a journal, so you don’t forget them.
Read and underline the verses on the following page in your Bible.
“For it is by grace you have been saved , through faith and not through yourselves. It is a gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast”
Exodus 33:17 (CSB)
“3 And that’s the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world.4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.”
John 10:14 (NIV)
“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end…”
How do you feel knowing that God knows what a bad day feels like?
Have you ever thought what would have happened if God didn’t have a plan for you?
